OVERVIEW

ROLES AND DELIVERABLES

I was the main designer working with a lead UX Designer to build this out. My deliverables included:

• Mockups

• Responsive layouts

PAIN POINTS

• Though the product title and thumbnails are visible in the cart, very little info in regards to the

   quantities, sizes, and pricing are not present;

• Carousel navigation is unclear, buttons are missing;

• An order summary is not used.

AUDIENCE

Development for this particular feature is still ongoing, our users were on-premise and off-premise customers and those who make purchasing decisions for retail, hospitality, and the alcohol beverage industry.

SOLUTION

To address these pain points and enhance the user experience, I proposed to remove the use of carousels all together and list the added items in the cart.

FLOW & BREAKDOWN

Before designing, I reviewed the current state of development for the cart selection page. The visual below illustrates the current UI in development

FIGMA MOCKUP

Below are screenshots of what I developed in discussion with the lead UX developer. Additional verbiage within the top header explains the individual carts before continuing to checkout.

The most important thing to show on a cart selection page is the contents of the cart itself. Many people use a cart like a wishlist and add lots of things before going through the list to remove those they don’t want. They might also want to check if they remembered to put everything they wanted in there.

OUTCOME

This lead to some problems, especially when it comes to fitting a huge amount of data into narrow mobile phone interfaces. The most common thing I struggled with during this case study was data tables and fitting a wide data table on mobile screens without losing its purpose and readability.
